Brain-computer interfaces were named a priority industry by China's central government in 2025, and a cluster of companies including NeuraMatrix, StairMed and BrainCo is moving from research into clinical trials and consumer products. Hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai host the trials, provincial funds back the startups, and standards bodies are drafting the rules that will govern the sector.
