CAIR of Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, CAS releases CARES 4.0 multimodal clinical agent system

The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), part of the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, released CARES 4.0 at the fourth Hong Kong Embodied Intelligence Medical Technology Forum (CREATE Symposium) on October 8, 2026.

The multimodal clinical agent system is built on the Harness agent framework with the lab's own medical base models covering CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy and EEG. CAIR says it supports diagnosis and treatment, hospital department management and medical research, and has completed deployment validation in several top-tier hospitals. The CARES 4.0 website is now open, the framework and a general-purpose toolkit have been released, and the lab plans to integrate its open-source ultrasound and surgical video models into the platform free of charge.
